In August 2018, singer Sarita Rav and drummer Otto de Jong met in Sarita’s hometown of Amber, Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan, India.
After Otto took a few lessons in Indian classical music from Sarita that were then followed by little jams and passionate conversations about each others musical cultures, the two decided to undertake an adventure, to start a band and tour together.
In April and May 2019 they made their first tour. For a month they played in The Netherlands and France with a minimalistic setup of just vocals and drums. Their pure and dynamic mix of North Indian songs and ragas with Western indie and jazz influenced drums has been received with great enthusiasm.
In October and November of 2019 they toured as Jaipur Junction in Europe again and recorded their first album in Utrecht (NL). In February and March 2020 Jaipur Junction toured for the first time in India.
Their first album “Kyon Nahin” was released in the autumn of 2020. They are currently in the process of writing and recording their follow-up and are planning European tour dates in the coming months.
