Marcin Wasilewski Trio (PL)
Marcin Wasilewski Trio is one of the brightest stars of the Polish jazz scene, recognised for their unique talent in blending tradition with contemporary sound.
The Trio is acclaimed as one of outstanding and unique jazz formations of their generation, enjoying recognition in Poland and abroad. In 2019 the group is celebrating 25 years in the same lineup.
For 15 years the trio teamed up with Tomasz Stańko and his quartet, recording a number of albums for ECM and playing concerts around the world. The Trio members have collaborated with artists such as Charles Lloyd, Al Foster, Branford Marsalis, Nils Petter Molvær, Jan Garbarek, Gianluigi Trovesi, John Surman, Louis Sclavis, Arthur Blythe, Joe Lovano, Bernt Rosengren, Dino Saluzzi, Bobo Stenson, Anders Jormin, Manu Katché, and Jon Christensen.
Marcin Wasilewski is a pianist revered not only by jazz fans. DownBeat magazine named him a rising jazz piano star.
The Trio is one of ECM Records stars. Their latest album “Spark of Life” has received majority of honors and awards of Polish music and jazz market. Just 6 weeks after release it has obtained the status of “Golden Album”, “Album Of The Year” and „Acoustic Band Of The Year” by Jazz Forum magazine. The Trio also received the most prestigious music award in Poland Fryderyk: for “Best Album Of The Year / Jazz”, and Marcin Wasilewski got the statue of Fryderyk as “Jazz Artist Of The Year”. This was the third Fryderyk awarded to the trio, and the eighth to Marcin Wasilewski.
